What Needs to Be Declared at Customs?
Foreign-made personal items included in your luggage such as cameras, camcorders, or laptops must be declared, presented to customs officers, and registered on Form OM 121 prior to departure. This will prevent travelers from paying import taxes upon their return to the country

What Items Cannot Be Taken Across the Border?

Travelers may not take currency out of the country in amounts exceeding USD 10,000, unless the transfer is carried out through authorized financial and exchange entities with the proper approvals. Unemancipated minor travelers under 16 years of age may only carry a maximum amount of USD 5,000. Argentine Pesos are exempt from this limit; however, if the total amount being taken out is equal to or greater than the equivalent of USD 10,000, it must be declared at Customs using the designated form. For currency conversion, the selling exchange rate set by Banco de la Nación Argentina on the business day prior to departure will serve as the reference
What Documentation Is Needed to Cross the Border?
Argentine Citizens: National Identity Card (DNI) or Passport
Foreign Tourists: Please check visa requirements with the relevant consular authorities before exiting Argentina and entering neighboring countries
Motor Vehicles: Vehicles with more than six windows must have their license plate number etched onto the front windshield, rear window, and the largest side windows. If the vehicle has fewer than six windows, the etching must be present on all of them. When driving in Brazil, Paraguay, or Uruguay, the driver must carry a valid identity document for MERCOSUR travel, a valid driver’s license, and an entry/tourist card issued by immigration authorities. A MERCOSUR insurance certificate issued by your insurance provider is also required (most insurance companies allow you to request this online

Documentation Required for Minors (Under 18)
In addition to valid travel documentation for their destination, all minors under 18 years of age who are Argentine citizens or foreign nationals residing in Argentina (whether holding permanent, temporary, or provisional residency) require official travel authorization to leave the country, according to the following guidelines:
- If traveling with both parents, proving the legal relationship via a Family Record Book (Libreta Civil de Familia), Birth Certificate, or Official Birth Record will be sufficient
- If the minor is traveling with only one parent, in addition to proving parentage using one of the aforementioned documents, an official authorization from the absent parent must be provided
- Authorizations may be issued by any of the following authorities: Justices of the Peace or Family Court Judges, Civil Registry officers (Registro de Estado Civil y Capacidad de las Personas), Notaries Public, or Argentine Consular officials abroad
- When the birth certificate only records single-parent filiation (maternal or paternal) for the parent accompanying the minor, presenting this document alone will be sufficient
- In all cases, the Family Record Book, Birth Certificate, or Official Birth Record remain valid regardless of their issue date, provided they are in good condition
- If the child belongs to unemancipated minor parents, exit authorization may only be granted by a judge, even if one of the parents reaches legal age (in such cases, the judge authorizes on behalf of the minor parent). As an exceptional procedure, authorizations may also be requested directly at the National Directorate of Migration office located at Ezeiza Airport when departing from that airport, provided all required supporting documentation is presented
In all cases, travelers must present a valid, official travel document at border control, along with proof of legal relationship or express authorization, submitted either as original documents or duly certified/notarized copies
